Cherished Recipes For Your French Life

Grab your whisk, your patience, and a smile - à la cuisine...



  • 1 1/2 cup whole milk

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 2 tsp powdered sugar

  • 1/2 tsp espresso powder (optional but boosts the cocoa flavor)

  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate (chopped into small pieces)​​

  • Chantilly (whipped) cream for serving


  • In your medium saucepan, and over a medium to medium-low heat, whisk together your whole milk, heavy cream, powdered sugar and espresso powder until smallish bubbles appear around the edges of your saucepan.

    • Do NOT allow this mixture to come to a boil!​

  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the chocolate until thoroughly melted.

    • You can return the saucepan to a low heat if needed for the chocolate to completely melt.​

  • Serve with as much chantilly cream as desired.
